Free The Beer!
This morning I delivered a press conference in the House of Commons to urge the Liberals to bring the New Brunswick beer case to the Supreme Court of Canada. We need to test if the limits on inter-provincial alcohol sales are constitutional. "This is not only important in having the potential to free the beer for Canadians, but more importantly has the potential to open our internal economy for Canadian producers. People want to buy Canadian and it should not be easier for a winery in B.C. to sell directly to Asia than to Ontario, as is the case today." My Private Member's Bill back in 2012 freed the grapes when it lifted the federal regulations against interprovincial wine sales, and so now we must #FreeTheBeer You can watch the video of the press conference here: http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/free-the-beer-test-cross-border-limits-at-supreme-court-mp-says-1.2923121

Yesterday was Gellatly Bay Trails & Parks Society's 19th Annual March For Parks at the Gellatly Nut Farm. I want to give huge thanks and appreciation for the Society's effort and dedication to maintain, preserve, and improve trails and hiking routes all over West Kelowna, Gellatly Bay area, and beyond! It was a pleasure to have my Constituency Assistant Dayne participate in the event and deliver a certificate of celebration to the Society's President Bruce Dalrymple on my behalf. May 27, 2016
Sending major congrats to the West Kelowna Warriors on their 2016 RBC Cup Championship victory! Good job boys! Last night was the Victory BBQ, and Dayne, my Constituency Assistant, delivered a certificate of congratulations to the team and presented it to team owners Mark and Janelle Cheyne. Also sending thanks to Castanet's Wayne Moore for his great work as the night's emcee. Not only have the West Kelowna Warriors defeated the Penticton Vees in the post-season, they have won the BCHL title, qualified for the RBC Cup National Junior Championships, and will play against the Brooks Bandits in the semi finals! This is an amazing achievement for a group of young leaders who play with their hearts and refuse to quit. Best of success to these young athletes!
Great to catch up Derek Nighbor, the CEO of Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC).
We had a great chat about our continued support for FPAC members Weyerhaeuser and Tolko Industries Ltd., which are in my riding; and our support for the forest sector as a whole! Thanks to all who participated at Saturday's Coffee Conversations chat- appreciated the input. Thanks also to the Bread Company for having us!
We discussed C-14, electoral reform, the Senate, Canada Post, affordable housing and the Canadian media with a diverse range of views. Can't wait to host another one soon, keep an eye out for it! The whole constituency staff was together this morning and took this great photo!
We are always looking forward to assisting you at the brand new office: 2562-B Main St, West Kelowna, BC V4T 2N5 See more of what we can help with by clicking here: Constituency Services May 12, 2016
