If you have ever wondered what a typical day is like here in Ottawa, I thought I would share with you what I am up to for Wednesday, June 15th. My morning started off at 6:00 am (yes that is 3am in the Pacific time zone where I think my sleep cycle is still stuck on) in order to attend the weekly Parliamentary prayer breakfast at 7:15 am. This is an ecumenical, non partisan breakfast that is open to all members of Parliament and Senators. At 8:30 am is our BC Caucus meeting. This is generally a weekly meeting where my fellow Conservative colleagues from all across British Columbia meet to discuss Federal/BC Provincial matters to ensure that we are also working together for the common good of our Province as a whole at the Federal Government level. Following the BC Caucus meeting an hour later is our National caucus meeting where all of our Caucus meets under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. At noon there is a short break for lunch and at 1 pm I have an appointment with IT service to help streamline some of the electronic side of the Ottawa office. After that, a quick rush over to review a statement I would be making in the house on behalf of the Government regarding a new tourism development. At 2pm I will be in the House of Commons for Question Period and the duration after. Normally I would remain in the House of Commons until roughly 6:30 pm however tonight I am fortunate to have been given leave in order to return home to the riding in order to attend some important local events occurring on Thursday and Friday that I will share with you in the days ahead on this blog. All going well (assuming no flight delays) I expect to be back home around 11:30 pm pacific time this evening....(or 2:30 am in the Ottawa time zone). Hopefully I will be able to watch game seven of the Stanley Cup playoff`s at 38,000 feet somewhere flying over Canada (Westjet typically has in flight tv`s...) and even more so that the Vancouver Canucks will become Stanley Cup Champions. I am also looking forward to seeing my family again as it has been close to two weeks since I last saw them. On Thursday and Friday, aside from attending the two aforementioned events I will be back in my Penticton constituency office and welcome your calls. Respectfully submitted, Dan
