After a hop, skip and a jump of a plane ride, I am back in Ottawa. It was a very productive week in the riding as I was able to meet with a number of citizens at my riding office and to attend several events throughout the riding. I have of late noticed a large uptick of electronic correspondence. Many constituents are choosing to send me their concerns via my parliamentary email address: dan.albas@parl.gc.ca or direct from my online submission page on my website www.danalbas.com . Often these are requests for meetings, invitations to events or to share their concerns on important issues. But just when you think that email is becoming the dominant form of communication for an MP, I pick up a week's worth of snail mail for me to catch up on (see picture above)! While nothing can beat the speed of delivery of email, I still prefer the opportunity for a phone call whenever possible. It's very tough to beat the interaction of a person to person conversation. The only thing that may rival or exceed the personal touch of a phone call, is a well articulated and handwritten letter. I had better go before there is enough mail to dive into! sincerely, Dan
