As my first official report as your new Member of Parliament- Elect, I would like to start out by thanking the roughly 53,000 of you came out to have your vote counted. Earning the support from so many of you is a deeply humbling experience and one that I will always be mindful of as your representative in Ottawa. I would also like to thank my fellow candidates and their supporters. Collectively they earned nearly 46% of the vote and I believe some of the issues raised by other candidates are clearly ones that matter to a number of constituents and should not be overlooked. As Prime Minister Stephen Harper noted in his election night comments, our party will govern in a way that represents all Canadians as we move forward. Within the riding, I am fortunate that the Green Party candidate, Dan Bouchard, has already kindly offered to share some of his ideas with me on connecting with youth and I plan on taking him up on his offer.
