One of the things I have learned about Government is the importance of having a good team of people to work with. Experience is a very valuable asset as there is much to learn but I also believe we need people who are committed to making a difference and are keen to do things differently.
Many of you will be happy to hear that Barb and Janine, formerly of Stockwell Day`s office, have agreed to work in our Penticton constituency office. Thanks to their experience we can hit the ground running without the time consuming need to start from scratch. Their many years of experience will be an asset to the people of Okanagan- Coquihalla whom we serve.
I am also pleased to announce that Rudy Enzmann has joined my team. Rudy served as the executive assistant to the Honorable Bill Barisoff, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia during the past two terms of Government and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. I recruited Rudy in part because the Speakers Office in a non-partisan office of the Legislature. During the election, I heard at the doorsteps that there seems to be a growing desire to see things done differently than in the past; that as elected representatives we must reach out and be open to the ideas and suggestions from others. Often it is political partisanship that creates the divide between us.
This is an important point- that all citizens feel comfortable in approaching their Member of Parliament regardless of political stripe and from my perspective, our team reflects this. I look forward to working side by side with them, listening to your concerns and working on behalf of our riding.
In addition to his weekly MP Report. the Dan in Ottawa blog is another resource for residents of Okanagan-Coquihalla. Chronicling Dan’s personal experiences as he travels to Ottawa and throughout the riding as your MP.
