It’s not often the House of Commons is still debating at 4am. I have heard rumors that the last time this occurred was at least a decade ago, possibly longer. However, there are a surprising amount of people who are up and about at this wee hour of the morning; they are sharing their comments and concerns with me and that is very much appreciated. I am currently on a short break and getting caught up on some of your comments that are coming in. I am also surprised at the amount of media that are also still following our debate. At this point I am not certain where we are at in this marathon session, but I do value the effort of so many different people both inside and out of the House who are contributing to the discussion. What is also kind on interesting is that it is roughly around this time where some of the night owls working at the Penticton Herald send out their daily electronic summary of today’s paper. I like to follow events that occur when I am in Ottawa although this is the first time I have read them so early. I will not reveal what stories may arrive on the doorsteps back home but I will say that this encounter has given me a new found appreciation of what it means to “burn” the midnight oil…
